Al Murray, England’s sensational and multi talented comedian is bringing his indelible comedy to the Gramercy Theater!
Alastair James Hay "Al" Murray was born in Stewkley (Buckinghamshire, England) in 1968 and is a stand up comedian, writer, and TV personality. His comedic style is best described as a blend of parody, political satire, surreal comedy (a form of humour predicated on deliberate violations of causal reasoning, producing events and behaviours that are obviously illogical), character comedy (a genre in which a comedian performs as though he or she were a character created by himself or herself), musical comedy, observational comedy, blue comedy (a style that’s off color, risqué, indecent or profane, and largely about sex) and he jokes about a variety of topics such as British culture, British politics, French culture, gender stereotypes, family, human interaction, world history, and current events. He’s had a stellar career with 8 comedy albums and his best known character is The Pub Landlord (a xenophobic pub owner). British newspaper The Observer has included him on its list of the 50 funniest acts in British comedy and he’s been voted the 16th greatest stand up comedian on Channel 4's 100 Greatest Stand-Up. He’s also written 5 books: The Pub Landlord's Book of British Common Sense, The Pub Landlord's Think Yourself British, The Pub Landlord's Great British Pub Quiz Book, Watching War Films with My Dad, and Let's Re-Great Britain.
