Big K.R.I.T. (birth name Justin Scott) was born in Meridian (Mississippi) in 1986 and is a rapper and record producer. His musical style is best described as a blend of Southern rap (a subgenre of hip hop that emerged in the Southern United States, especially in Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston, Memphis, and Miami, and is considered a third major American hip hop genre, after East Coast hip hop and West Coast hip hop), hardcore rap (a genre characterized by confrontation and aggression, whether in the lyrical subject matter, the hard, driving beats, the noisy sampling and production, or any combination thereof), and gangsta rap (a sub genre of hip hop music - pioneered in the mid-1980s by rappers such as Schoolly D and Ice-T, and was popularized in the later part of the 1980s by groups like N.W.A - with themes and lyrics that generally emphasize the criminal gang lifestyle). He’s had a stellar career with 3 studio albums (all of which were top 10 hits on the US Billboard 200, the Top R&B and Hip Hop Albums chart, and the Top Rap Albums chart), 2 extended plays, 24 singles, 14 mix tapes, 1 compilation album, and he's collaborated with T.I., Yo Gotti, The Roots, and many other renowned artists.
