Nekromatix, Denmark’s sensational psychobilly artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Gramercy Theater!
The band was formed in 1989 in Copenhagen (Denmark) by Kim Nekroman. He was a former submarine radio operator in the Danish Navy for 8 years after which he had decided to pursue a career in music. He started his journey as a drummer in a rockabilly band and eventually learned to sing and play the double bass as well. He formed Nekromantix as with himself as the lead vocalist, and recruited guitarist Paolo Molinari and drummer Jens Brygman to complete the band’s first line up. Their musical style is psychobilly (a fusion genre of rock music that mixes elements of punk rock, rock and roll, rockabilly, and rhythm and blues) and their signature musical instrument is the Coffinbass (an upright bass in the shape of a coffin). The band’s been through many line up changes since its formation and it currently consists of Kim (Coffinbass, vocals), Francisco Mesa (guitar, backing vocals), and Adam Guerrero (drums). They’ve had a stellar career with 8 studio albums, 1 live album, 3 music videos, and 3 singles. Their 2004 album (Dead Girls Don’t Cry) hit #43 on Billboard’s Top Independent Albums chart and their follow up album in 2007 (Life Is a Grave and I Dig It!) peaked at #21 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart.
