Sensational heavy metal bands Orphaned Land and Pain are bringing their signature sounds to the Gramercy Theater!
Pain (stylized as PAIN) is the musical project of Swedish musician, multi-instrumentalist and producer, Alf Peter Tägtgren. His musical style is best described as a blend of heavy metal (a subgenre of rock that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s and features a thick, massive sound, characterized by highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, emphatic beats, and overall loudness), industrial metal (a genre that draws from industrial dance music, thrash metal and hardcore punk, using repeating metal guitar riffs, sampling, synthesizer or sequencer lines, and distorted vocals), and symphonic metal (a subgenre of heavy metal music which combines the heavy drums and guitars of metal with different elements of orchestral classical music, such as symphonic instruments, choirs and sometimes a full orchestra). He's released 8 studio albums, 15 singles, 2 video albums, and 15 singles. When on tour, the project also features touring musicians David Wallin drums (2003), Jonathan Olsson (bass), Greger Andersson (guitar), and Sebastian Tägtgren (drums). Orphaned Land was formed in Petah Tikva/Bat Yam (Israel) in 1991 and it currently consists of Kobi Farhi (vocals), Uri Zelcha (bass), Matan Shmuely (drums and percussion), Chen Balbus (guitars, piano, bouzouki, saz, oud, xylophone, and backing vocals), and Idan Amsalem (guitars and bouzouki). They've released 5 studio albums and their latest one (Unsung Prophets and Dead Messiahs) comes out in January 2018.
