Phish Afterparty, the all star concert featuring Everyone Orchestra and the music of The Grateful Dead is coming to the Gramercy Theater!
Everyone Orchestra is an improvisational musical project led by multi-instrumentalist and conductor Matt Butler. He formed the project in 2001 after performing all over the country as the drummer and percussionist for the touring band Jambay. Over the years, the project's featured a rotating cast of musicians including members of The Grateful Dead, Furthur, Ratdog, Trey Anastasio Band, Gov’t Mule, String Cheese Incident, Allman Brothers Band, Yonder Mountain String Band, The New Mastersounds, Big Gigantic, Punch Brothers, Dumpstaphunk, Pink Floyd, Living Colour, Galactic, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Railroad Earth, Thievery Corporation, Lettuce, Infamous Stringdusters, Leftover Salmon, The Flecktones, and King Crimson. In 2012, Matt recruited members of renowned bands such as Phish, Moe., and many others to record Everyone Orchestra’s debut studio album, Brooklyn Sessions. He said in an interview, "The experience of playing with different musicians, improvising every night, and getting the crowd involved in ways that they can’t be at a regular show has provided an unparalleled live music experience. Utilizing conducted improvisation as a tool to facilitate spontaneous group compositions, is what makes EO unique and magical." The concert features one set that deconstructs the music of The Grateful Dead and another improvisational one conducted by Matt.
Don't miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to improvisational music!
