Protest The Hero, Canada's sensational progressive metal artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Gramercy Theater!
Protest the Hero was formed in Whitby, (Ontario, Canada) in 2001 and consists of Rody Walker (lead vocals), Luke Hoskin (lead guitar, piano, and backing vocals), Tim Millar (rhythm guitar, piano, and backing vocals), Mike Ieradi (drums), and touring member Eric Gonsalves (bass guitar). Their musical style is best described as a blend of progressive metal (a fusion of heavy metal and progressive rock that combines the loud aggression and amplified guitar driven sound of the former with the more experimental, cerebral or pseudo classical compositions of the latter), post hardcore (a sub genre of hardcore punk music that maintains its aggression and intensity, but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression), and punk rock (a rock music genre - developed in the early to mid 1970s in the United States – that typically uses short or fast paced songs, with hard edged melodies and singing styles, stripped-down instrumentation, and often political, anti establishment lyrics). They’ve had a stellar career with 4 studio albums, 1 live album, 5 extended plays, and 16 music videos. They've won a Canadian Independent Music Award (for Favourite Metal Artist/Group) and a Juno Award (for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year). They've also been nominated for a Canadian Music Week Indie Awards (for Favourite Metal Artist/Group) and a CASBY Award.
