Taylor Bennet, Illinois’ sensational hip hop artist is bringing his signature sounds to Gramercy Theater!
Taylor Bennett was born in Chicago in 1996 and is a rapper, singer, and songwriter. His musical style is best described as Midwest rap (a style of hip hop - performed by artists from the Midwestern United States - that, in contrast with its East Coast, West Coast, and Southern counterparts, has very few consonants) and he cites Twista, Nas, Kanye West, and Kendrick Lamar as significant influences. His musical goal has always been to bring people together and he said in an interview, “My biggest dream that I've ever had was [when I was] 14. [In my dream,] I was performing at this huge concert. When I looked out into the crowd, everybody all looked so different and at one point I just said, ‘Everybody turn to each other and look at each other and realize that we're all the same.’ I think that music has that power to bring people together and show people that no matter what…it's all about love.” He’s had a stellar career with 1 studio album, 3 mix tapes, 1 extended play, and he’s collaborated with Chance the Rapper (who’s his older brother), King Louie, Logan Parks, Talia Stewart, Jordan Bratton, Donnie Trumpet, and Joey Purp.
