The Lawrence Arms, Illinois' sensational pop punk artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Gramercy Theater!
The Lawrence Arms was formed in Chicago in 1999 and consists of Chris McCaughan (guitar and vocals), Brendan Kelly (bass and vocals), and Neil Hennessy (drums). They named the band after the apartment complex that Chris and Brendan used to live in (before being evicted in the middle of the night). Their musical style is best described as a blend of pop punk (a fusion genre that typically combines fast punk rock tempos, power chord changes and loud, distorted electric guitars with pop influenced melodies and lyrical themes) and punk rock (a rock music genre - developed in the early to mid-1970s in the United States – that typically uses short or fast paced songs, with hard edged melodies and singing styles, stripped-down instrumentation, and often political, anti establishment lyrics). They’ve had a stellar career with 6 studio albums, 1 compilation album, 6 extended plays, 5 music videos, and they've toured with many renowned bands such as NOFX, Alkaline Trio, The Draft, Lagwagon, and A Wilhelm Scream. Their work has also been featured on the compilation albums 1157 Wheeler Avenue, Uncontrollable Fatulence, Oil: Chicago Punk Refined, Experiments in Audio Rocketry, and Rock Against Bush (Volume 2).
