The Marcus King Band, South Carolina's sensational blues and rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Gramercy Theater!
The Marcus King Band was formed in Greenville (South Carolina) and it consists of Marcus King (lead vocals and guitar), Jack Ryan (drums and percussion), Stephen Campbell (bass), Dean Mitchell (saxophone), and Justin Johnson (trumpet, trombone and backing vocals). Their musical style is best described as a blend of rock and roll (a genre of popular music that originated - in the United States during the late 1940s and early 1950s - from African American musical styles such as gospel, jazz, boogie woogie, and rhythm and blues, and country music), blues rock (a fusion genre combining elements of blues and rock, characterized by bluesy improvisation, the twelve bar blues, extended boogie jams typically focused on the electric guitar player, and often a heavier, riff oriented sound), boogie rock (an offshoot of the heavy blues rock of the late '60s that - instead of emphasizing instrumental improvisation - concentrated on the groove and backbeat), and Southern rock (a subgenre of rock music that developed in the Southern United States from rock and roll, country music, and blues, and is focused generally on electric guitar and vocals). They've had a stellar career with 2 studio albums.
