Uriah Heep, England's sensational rock and metal artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Gramercy Theater!
Uriah Heep was formed in London (England) in 1969 by vocalist David Byron and guitarist Mick Box. It currently consists of Mick (lead and rhythm guitars and backing vocals), Phil Lanzon (keyboards and backing and lead vocals), Bernie Shaw (lead and backing vocals), Russell Gilbrook (drums and percussion), and Davey Rimmer (bass). Over the years, their musical style has spanned many genres such as hard rock (a loosely defined subgenre of rock music featuring heavy use of aggressive vocals, distorted electric guitars, bass guitar, drums, and often accompanied with pianos and keyboards), heavy metal (a subgenre of rock that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s and features a thick, massive sound, characterized by highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, emphatic beats, and overall loudness), and progressive rock (a broad subgenre of rock music that grew out of psychedelic bands who abandoned standard traditions in favour of instrumentation and compositional techniques more frequently associated with jazz, folk or classical music). They’ve had a stellar career with 24 studio albums (3 of which have been certified Gold in the US), 18 live albums, 39 compilation albums, 33 singles, 18 video albums, and they've sold over 40 million records worldwide.
