Wild Child - A Tribute to The Doors are bringing their signature Doors experience to the Gramercy Theater!
Wild Child is a Doors tribute band that was formed by Dave Brock and made its debut at the world famous Whisky a-go-go on the sunset strip in 1986. It was a sold out concert and was critically acclaimed with the LA Times saying, “Wild Child is a winner! What's amazing is that vocalist Dave Brock sings like Morrison, enough to imperil the snowflake analogy about no two sets of vocal chords to be able to produce the exact same vocal tone.” Dave was born and raised in San Francisco but left Northern California to attend Long Beach State University in the early 80s. While studying there, he got the role of Jim Morrison in The Jim Morrison Rock Opera; the show was produced by Morrison’s sister (Anna Morrison Graham) and she personally selected Dave for the role. The show’s success led to Dave forming Wild Child and the band flourished by re-creating the depth, energy and emotion of The Doors concerts. Dave said in an interview, “I like to think of The Doors' music and poetry as museum pieces, with each song a different painting, sculpture or work of art. I love what The Doors put together and the people they gathered together. The most I could ever expect to do with Wild Child is to perhaps hold the door open for a while longer.”
